About Salim Singh ki Haveli
Built about 1815 by Salim Singh Mehta, the prime minister of Jaisalmer, and famous for its top storey, which flares out on thirty-eight balconies under a blue cupola so that the whole thing looks like a peacock, or a ship's stern. The story goes that he built two more storeys to rival the Maharawal's palace and was made to pull them down. Salim Singh was hated; the Paliwals of Kuldhara blamed him for driving them out.
