About Gadisar Lake
The rainwater tank that kept Jaisalmer alive for centuries, first dug under Rawal Jaisal and rebuilt in 1367 by Maharawal Gadsi Singh, whose name it carries. It is ringed with ghats, shrines and chhatris, and you enter through Tilon ki Pol, a gateway a courtesan paid for and topped with a Krishna temple so the king could not tear it down. Catfish crowd the ghats, and in winter there are ducks and waders. Boats are for hire; go at sunrise.
