About Soor Sarovar Bird Sanctuary
Keetham lake, a canal-fed reservoir 20 km from Agra on the Delhi road, made a sanctuary in 1991 and a Ramsar site in 2020. Winter brings bar-headed geese, pelicans, ducks in thousands and sarus in the fields. In the same forest is the Wildlife SOS bear rescue facility, home to over a hundred sloth bears taken off the dancing-bear trade, open with a prior booking. Sur Kuti, the hermitage linked to the poet Surdas, is at the lake edge.
