About Itmad-ud-Daulah (Baby Taj)
Nur Jahan built this for her father Mirza Ghiyas Beg between 1622 and 1628, and it is the first Mughal tomb wholly in white marble and the first covered in pietra dura inlay, so the Taj a generation later grew out of it. It is small, the inlay is finer and closer to the eye than at the Taj, and the crowds are a fraction. Combine it with Chini ka Rauza and Ram Bagh along the same east bank road.
What to see and do
- Pietra dura inlay of wine flasks and cypresses
- The painted interior
- Yamuna-side pavilion
- Chini ka Rauza and Ram Bagh up the road
