About Akbar's Tomb, Sikandra
Akbar began his own tomb and Jahangir finished it in 1613, a five-tiered sandstone pyramid with a marble top storey and a gateway carrying four white minarets, inside a large walled garden where blackbuck, deer and langurs graze. The real grave is in a plain crypt below. It is on the Mathura road about 10 km out of Agra, and the tomb of his Rajput wife Mariam-uz-Zamani, a converted Lodi baradari, is a kilometre away and usually empty.
