About Jama Masjid, Agra
Jahanara Begum, Shah Jahan's daughter, built it in 1648 facing the Delhi gate of the fort, and the railway station later cut across the space between them. Three sandstone domes with a zigzag of white marble, a big courtyard, and the old city of Kinari Bazaar and the petha and jewellery lanes right behind it. Worth an hour with the bazaar rather than on its own.
What to see and do
- Zigzag marble on the three domes
- Kinari Bazaar behind the mosque
- Petha sweet shops of the old city
- Agra Fort across the station
