About Savoi Spice Plantation

A working organic farm near Ponda where pepper vines climb areca palms and cardamom, nutmeg, vanilla and cinnamon grow in the shade. A guide walks you through the rows, explains each plant and ends with a Goan lunch served on a banana leaf. It is cooler under the trees than on the coast, which makes it a good half day away from the heat. Tours are shorter in the monsoon, when paths can be slippery.
