About Divar Island

A green river island in the Mandovi, reached by a short ferry from Old Goa, where life still moves slowly. There are paddy fields, old Portuguese houses and small chapels, with the hilltop Piedade church as the main viewpoint. The Bonderam festival in August brings out flags and floats. Rent a bicycle or walk along the lanes, and take the ferry back before dark, as the last crossings can be early.
