About Fontainhas Latin Quarter
The old Portuguese quarter of Panaji, a maze of narrow lanes with houses painted in yellow, blue, ochre and green, balconies with wooden shutters and small tiled name plates. The white Chapel of St Sebastian sits at the heart of it. Walk it slowly in the morning before the heat, stop at a small bakery or cafe, and look for the tiny galleries. It is a living neighbourhood, so keep voices low and ask before photographing people.
