About Church of St Francis of Assisi and Archaeological Museum

A Franciscan church with a plain facade and wall paintings and carved wood inside, built in the 1600s on an earlier chapel. The former convent next to it is now the Archaeological Museum of the ASI, with sculpture from Goan temples, old viceroy portraits and Portuguese coins. It is a good place to understand Old Goa's mixed history before walking the other churches. Check museum timings, as it is usually shut on Fridays.
