About Mae de Deus Church, Saligao

A bright white Gothic church whose pointed spire rises from a green village a few kilometres inland from Calangute. It was rebuilt in the late 1800s and is among the more photographed churches in the north. The setting is quiet even when the beaches are crowded. Dress modestly, and keep the visit short during Mass. Nearby Saligao lanes have old Portuguese villas worth a walk.
