About Sangti Valley
A flat, farmed side valley 7 km from Dirang on the Sangti river, and one of only two places in India where the black-necked crane winters, arriving in November and leaving by February. Some years only a pair or two turn up, some years none, so go for the valley itself: kiwi farms, Monpa houses, the river, and a few homestays. Easy walking on the flat, which is rare in this state.
What to see and do
- Black-necked cranes, November to February
- The Sangti river and its bridges
