About Bhalukpong
The gate into the state from Tezpur, where the Kameng river leaves the hills and the permit is checked. There is a stretch of rafting on the Kameng in the cold season, an angling camp, and the Tippi Orchid Research Centre 5 km up the road with several hundred species in its glasshouses. Most people pass straight through on the way to Tawang; a night here is pleasant enough in winter, and hot from April.
