About Mandala Top
A 3000 m ridge top above Dirang with a ring of 108 small stupas built by the local Monpa community, reached by a rough 30 km road that is itself one of the best birding drives in the north-east: blood pheasant, grandala and fire-tailed myzornis in the rhododendron. Snow shuts it for some weeks in winter. Take a jeep from Dirang and start early for the light on the Gorichen range.
