About Sam Sand Dunes
The big dunes 40 km west of Jaisalmer, and the place everybody means by a desert safari: camel rides out to the ridge for sunset, jeep runs, and dozens of tented camps with folk music and dinner. It is crowded and commercial, and still worth it once. November to February is the window; from April onward the heat is dangerous and most camps shut. The Desert National Park boundary is just beyond.
