About Nagri (Madhyamika)
A low mound on the Berach 13 km north of Chittorgarh that was Madhyamika, capital of the Sibi people and a city from Mauryan times into the Gupta period. Punch-marked coins and a first-century BCE inscription to Vasudeva and Samkarshana, among the earliest records of Vaishnav worship anywhere, came from here. What you see is the Hathi Bada, a big stone enclosure, and fragments in the fields. For people who like the idea of a place.
What to see and do
- Hathi Bada stone enclosure
- The Ghosundi inscription site
