About Matrikundia
A Shiva shrine and bathing place on a dam across the Banas near Rashmi, known as the Haridwar of Mewar because this is where families from the region bring ashes to immerse. The legend has Parashuram cleansing himself here after killing his mother. The Vaishakh Purnima fair in May draws big crowds. The river is fast and deep after the monsoon; keep to the ghats.
What to see and do
- The Shiva temple on the dam
- Asthi visarjan ghats on the Banas
- Vaishakh Purnima fair in May
- Farmland and the Banas valley around it
Part of Aravalli.
