About Mankameshwar Temple
The oldest working Shiva temple in Agra by common consent, in the lanes of Rawatpara near the Jama Masjid, with a silver-cased lingam that tradition says Shiva himself installed on the way to see the infant Krishna at Mathura. Sawan Mondays and Mahashivratri fill the alleys for hours. A sensible add-on to the fort and the Jama Masjid, not a destination on its own.
What to see and do
- Silver-cased lingam
- Sawan Monday crowds
- Rawatpara lanes and food
- Jama Masjid two minutes away
