About Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary

A dense forest sanctuary in Sattari, around the catchment of the Mhadei river that flows into Goa, and one of the wilder parts of the state. It holds leopards, sloth bears, gaur and many birds, and tigers are known to move through, but most visitors will only see signs and birdlife on a short forest walk. Entry usually needs forest department permission and a guide, so ask the local range office first. Treat it as a quiet forest day, not a safari.
