About Dr Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, Chorao

A small mangrove sanctuary on the island of Chorao in the Mandovi, and a good pick for a quiet morning. A boat takes you through the creeks, where herons, egrets, kingfishers, sandpipers and sometimes a mugger crocodile can be seen. Go early in the morning at high tide in the cooler months for the best chance. A ferry from Ribandar takes you across to the island. Carry a hat, water and binoculars.
