About Jaswant Thada
The white marble cenotaph of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II, built by his son in 1899, with the sheets of marble cut so thin that the interior glows when the sun is on them. The Rathore cremation ground with its smaller chhatris is around it, and a small lake sits below. It is a ten-minute walk from Mehrangarh and far quieter.
What to see and do
- The thin, translucent marble of the main hall
- Portraits of the Rathore rulers inside
- Smaller royal chhatris in the garden
- The lake below and the view of Mehrangarh
- Morning light on the marble
