About Balsamand Lake and Palace
A reservoir built in 1159 by a Pratihara ruler, well before Jodhpur existed, with a small red sandstone summer palace added on the dam in the 19th century. The palace is a heritage hotel now and the mango garden below it is where the royal family used to spend the hot months. Pair it with Mandore, which is five minutes on.
