About Fateh Sagar Lake and Nehru Garden
Maharana Jai Singh dug it in 1678 and Fateh Singh rebuilt the dam in 1889 after floods, and it is the lake Udaipur uses rather than looks at: the road along the east shore fills with walkers and chaat stalls every evening. Boats go to Nehru Garden on the largest island, and the Udaipur Solar Observatory sits on another. Moti Magri hill above the lake has the Maharana Pratap memorial.
