About Eklingji, Kailashpuri
Shiva as Eklingji is the ruler of Mewar, and the Maharana has only ever styled himself his diwan; the family still comes on Mondays. The compound of 108 shrines at Kailashpuri, 22 km north of Udaipur, goes back to Bappa Rawal in the 8th century, though most of what stands is Rana Raimal's rebuilding around 1500. The main shrine has a four-faced black marble lingam and a silver Nandi. Timings are strict and it shuts between darshans.
