About Sahastra Bahu Temples, Nagda

A pair of 10th-century Vishnu temples beside Bagela lake at Nagda, which was the Guhila capital before Chittor. The name means thousand-armed Vishnu and has been worn down by use to Sas-Bahu, mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, which is what everyone calls them. The carving on the larger one is as good as anything in Mewar and hardly anybody stops, because the coaches are on their way to Eklingji.
