About Badi Lake (Jiyan Sagar)
Maharana Raj Singh I built the dam in the 1670s as famine relief and named the lake Jiyan Sagar after his mother. It is 12 km west of the city on the Gogunda road, ringed by low hills, and has become the place Udaipur goes for a sunset picnic. The short climb up the hill on the north side, which everyone calls Bahubali Hill, gives the view.
What to see and do
- The dam and its three pavilions
- Bahubali Hill viewpoint
- Sunset over the water
- Very full and green after the monsoon
Part of Aravalli.
