About Bihar Museum
Opened in 2015 in a low, angular building by the Japanese firm Maki and Associates, and easily the best-run museum in eastern India. The Didarganj Yakshi, a polished Mauryan chauri-bearer dug out of the Ganga bank in 1917, is the reason to come. The history galleries run from the Mauryas to the Palas, and the children gallery is genuinely good. Air-conditioned, so it works in summer too.
