About Agam Kuan and Shitala Devi

A brick-lined well 105 feet deep and said to be unfathomable, which tradition ties to Ashoka before his conversion, when he is supposed to have thrown his enemies and his brothers into it. Coins and offerings still go in. The Shitala Devi temple next to it, where the goddess of smallpox is worshipped with seven pindis, draws a steady local crowd. Small, strange and worth twenty minutes on the way to Kumhrar.
