About Ajmer Sharif Dargah

The tomb of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, the Sufi saint who settled in Ajmer and died here in 1236, is the most visited Muslim shrine in India and people of every faith come. Akbar walked here from Agra, and the great degs still cook rice for the poor. The Urs falls in the month of Rajab, lately in late December or January, and the town is packed for six days. Expect crowds and pushy guides; qawwali after the evening prayer is the time to be there.
