About Vishram Ghat

The central ghat of the 25 along the Yamuna at Mathura, where Krishna is said to have rested after killing Kansa. The evening aarti, with lamps set floating on the river, is the thing to see, and a boat along the ghats before it is worth the small fee. Bathing on Yam Dwitiya, two days after Diwali, is the big annual crowd. The river is high and fast in the monsoon, so stay off the lower steps then.
