About Govardhan Parikrama
The low sandstone ridge Krishna is said to have lifted on his little finger, and the 21 km barefoot circuit around it is the central act of Braj pilgrimage. Most people do it in five or six hours, some in dandavat, lying full length every step, which takes weeks. Mansi Ganga tank in Govardhan town, the Daan Ghati temple and the Mukharvind at Jatipura are the main stops. Guru Purnima and Govardhan Puja after Diwali bring lakhs.
