About Vishnu Mandir, Asuran

A modern temple built around a black stone Vishnu of the Pala period, around the 12th century, one of the finest medieval sculptures in eastern UP and worth the visit on its own. The image is worshipped daily so you see it dressed, which is a different experience from a museum. The temple is also the venue of one of the older Ram Leelas in the city.
