About Tutla Bhawani

A Devi temple set in a narrow Kaimur gorge near Tilouthu, 15 km from Dehri, with a waterfall pouring down the cliff behind it and a stream running past the shrine. A rock inscription of the Khayaravala king Pratap Dhawal Dev dated 1158 CE is on the gorge wall, so the shrine is at least that old. Navratri brings big crowds. In the monsoon the stream floods the approach and the wet rock is treacherous; the fall is dry by December.
