About Shergarh Fort, Chenari
A hill fort of Sher Shah on the Kaimur scarp above the Durgavati river near Chenari, about 35 km from Sasaram. It is much smaller than Rohtasgarh but far easier to reach, with a stiff half-hour climb to gateways, a mosque, and a set of underground rooms that were probably stores or a retreat. The walls give a long view up the Durgavati valley towards the reservoir. Almost nobody comes, so bring water and a guide from Chenari.
What to see and do
- Sher Shah's hilltop fort walls and gateways
- Underground chambers
- View up the Durgavati valley
- Stiff but short climb from Chenari
Part of Vindhya and Kaimur.
