About Tara Chandi and the Sasaram Rock Edict

A Devi shrine counted as a Shakti Peeth in a cleft of the Kaimur foothills at the south edge of Sasaram, with a 1169 CE inscription of Pratap Dhawal Dev at the door. On the hill just above, beside the dargah of Chandan Shaheed, is one of the minor rock edicts of Ashoka, the only one in Bihar, a few lines of Brahmi cut into a low rock shelter. Navratri is the busy time at the temple. Combine both with the Sher Shah tomb, all within 4 km.
