About Indrapuri Barrage
A 1,407-metre barrage across the Son at Indrapuri, 10 km upstream of Dehri-on-Son, completed in 1968 to feed the Son canal system that irrigates most of Shahabad. It is among the longest barrages in the world. The reason to come is the view: the Kaimur hills rising straight out of the river behind it, wintering waterbirds on the pool above the gates, and a good sunset. There is a small park at the east end. Fifteen minutes from the Dehri highway.
