About Sonamarg
The Meadow of Gold, a broad Himalayan valley on the Sindh river below the Zojila pass. Snow-capped peaks, pine forest and open meadows surround the village, and the Thajiwas glacier is a walk or pony ride away. It is the starting point for the Kashmir Great Lakes trek and the Amarnath yatra route via Baltal. Winter brings deep snow and closes much of the area.
