About Sandakphu and Singalila
The highest point in West Bengal, at about 3,636 metres, on the Singalila ridge on the border with Nepal, with a view of four of the five highest peaks in the world, Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse and Makalu. The trek starts at Manebhanjan and takes about four to five days, with stays in trekkers' huts and lodges, and old Land Rovers can also drive the track. Entry to the Singalila National Park, a guide and a permit are required. The best seasons are April to May, for the rhododendrons, and the clear months of October to early December.
