About Mirik Lake (Sumendu)
A small, quiet hill town about 50 km from Darjeeling, built around a lake with a long wooden bridge, boating and a ring of tall pine trees. Tea gardens and orange orchards cover the hills around. It is calmer and less crowded than Darjeeling, and a good place to spend a night. Go in spring and autumn, and carry a jacket for the evenings.
