About Ramgarh Shekhawati

The Poddar merchants left Churu after a tax dispute in 1791 and built Ramgarh from nothing, and for a century it was one of the richest towns in the region. The Poddar chhatris outside the town, especially that of Ram Gopal Poddar with its painted dome of Ramayana scenes, are the best cenotaphs in Shekhawati. The Shani temple and the Ganga temple in town are covered inside and out with frescoes. Very few visitors.
