About Shrinathji, Nathdwara

The image of Krishna as a seven-year-old lifting Govardhan was carried out of Braj in 1669 ahead of Aurangzeb's army, and the cart is said to have stuck here in 1672, so this is where he stayed. The temple is run like a house, a haveli, and the deity is seen only at eight short darshans a day, so check the board before you queue. Pichwai painting grew up here. On the hill above town stands the Vishwas Swaroopam, a 369 ft Shiva finished in 2022.
