About Konhara Ghat
The ghat at Hajipur where the Gandak meets the Ganga, and by legend the spot where Vishnu freed the elephant Gaj from the crocodile Grah, a story that gives the Sonepur fair across the river its meaning. On Kartik Purnima a very large crowd bathes here before crossing to the mela. The river is fast after the monsoon and the bank is crowded; treat it with respect.
