About Abhishek Pushkarini and Raja Vishal ka Garh
The big tank called Kharauna Pokhar is held to be the coronation pool of the Licchavi republic, where the elected heads of the gana sangha were anointed. A short walk north is Raja Vishal ka Garh, a mound about a kilometre round with a moat and rampart, which tradition calls the assembly hall of that republic, one of the earliest in the world with a claim to the word. Neither is spectacular; together they are the ground plan of the ancient city.
