About Kalka Shimla Railway
A 96 km narrow gauge mountain railway opened in 1903 that climbs from Kalka to Shimla through 102 tunnels and over 800 bridges, and is part of the Mountain Railways of India UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Barog tunnel and the Arch Gallery bridge are the highlights. The Himalayan Queen and the glass roofed Vistadome coach are popular choices, so book early.
