About Jajmau
A high mound on the Ganga at the eastern end of Kanpur, excavated in the 1950s and found to have been lived on for around three thousand years. On and around it are the Siddhnath Shiva temple, the 14th-century dargah of Makhdoom Shah Ala-ul-Haq and the Jinnati mosque of the 1670s. The tanneries that made Kanpur rich, and its river dirty, are all around.
