About Bithoor
A Ganga town 25 km upstream of Kanpur with more stories per square metre than anywhere near it. Brahmavart Ghat has the nail Brahma is said to have driven into the earth; Valmiki Ashram on the bluff is where the Ramayana was written and Lav and Kush born; Dhruv Teela is where the boy Dhruv did penance. Nana Sahib ruled from here until 1857, when the British razed his palace. Kartik Purnima fills the ghats.
