About Jaigarh Fort
The military fort on the hill above Amber, built by Jai Singh II in 1726 to protect the palace and the treasury below. The Jaivana, cast here in 1720, is the largest wheeled cannon ever made and was fired once. The rain-fed water tanks are huge; in 1976 the government dug them up for months looking for the Kachwaha treasure and found nothing, or so the story goes.
