About Jantar Mantar

Sawai Jai Singh II finished this observatory in 1734, and it is the largest and best kept of the five he built. The Samrat Yantra sundial is 27 metres high and reads local time to about two seconds. The instruments make no sense without explanation, so take a guide or use the audio tour, and go on a sunny day when the shadows are actually working.
