About Hussainabad Clock Tower and Picture Gallery

A 67-metre Victorian clock tower of 1881, the tallest in India, put up when Sir George Couper arrived as lieutenant governor. Across the tank is the Hussainabad Baradari, now the Picture Gallery, with life-size portraits of the Nawabs of Awadh painted so the feet seem to follow you round the room. The unfinished Satkhanda tower stands beside it.
