About Valmiki Ashram, Valmikinagar
Tradition places the ashram of Valmiki, where Sita lived in exile and Lav and Kush were born, on the Gandak here at Tribeni, and the modern town takes its name from it. The main claimed site is across the river on the Nepal bank near Chitwan; on the Indian side there is a temple and the Tribeni ghat where three streams meet. Go at dawn from the reserve gate.
